Movie: National Treasure (1 and 2)
Predictable but interesting puzzle adventures. I probably would not watch #3.

The CGI spectacular Beowulf (2007) had potential, had some great scenes, but ruined it with gratuitous sex and violence. Not worth my time even though I fast forward through a good deal of it.

We are just barely inside the 3G area. So perhaps now is the time to think about the iPhone. Will they give us a discount if we move our TV and internet and regular phone to ATT? Will I have to give up my day job and start developing iPhone apps? Will we buy an Apply laptop when our Dell gives out?

Movie: The Fall
The fall is a fantasy film by Tarsem Singh. An injured stunt man tells an epic story of five heroes to a young girl in a 1920's hospital. The heroes are in both story lines...an Indian, an ex-slave, an explosive expert, a masked bandit and the famed biologist Charles Darwin. Filmed in 18 countries with some of the most spectacular scenery ever.
I want to build a map of this film to track some of the amazing scenery. I'll likely have to watch it on Blu-ray and go scene by scene. This list is from IMDB.
- Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India - across from the Taj Mahal
- Jaipur, Rajasthan - for lots of things including the Blue City, Janta Mantar, Amber Palace
- Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir -
- Chennai, Tamil Nadu -
- South Pacific, Pacific Ocean
- Czech Republic
- South Africa

Health: Digital Retina Scan
I had a Optos Retina Scan" today at the eye doctor. I refuse to let them dilate my eyes and cringe at the talk of lazik. So, to get an image of my eye, this is the next best thing. Or the latest great thing. Or some way to get additional revenue, I'm sure mostly to pay for the hardware.
My eyes were normal. The link has some images of not so normal eyes. One more area for a hypochondriac to worry about. Someday we'll be able to get digital eye replacements. Until then, I'm still wearing glasses.

Movie: God Grew Tired of Us
This movie has been sitting on our shelf for months from Netflix. I was expecting something completely different. What I got was a great documentary, a great inspiration, and a reminder to stop whining.
The film briefly covers the history of the mid-80s civil war in Sudan, and the subsequent exodus of young Sudanese men and boys into a refuge camp in Kenya. It focuses on the first four years of the lucky few "lost boys" who are offered refuge in the U.S.
Go watch it.
Movie: Shree 420
Raj Kapoor stars in this Bollywood film. It was the first of our series of classic Indian films.
420 stands for swindler. Raj comes from the country to Bombay. He loses all his money., falls in love, sells his honesty (at first only a medal and then himself), and is seduced by money and fame and Maya a temptress. Spoiler: everything works out.
The songs are fabulous and I bet you'll learn a few of the lyrics. A classic from 1955!
