Howdy. This is Bob. The Bob of Bob Blog. This blog contains about five minutes of my thoughts each day. A record. A history. And occasionally worth reading.

    Sports: Day1
Every year, everyone thinks they will pick the champion. 64 teams. Maybe 16 legitimate contenders (seeds 1-4 x4). So only 16 of 32 games in the first round up for a cointoss. But the bracket isn't always so generous. And the second round gets even crazier.

16 games played and Sophia no longer has her champion and one other final four pick is out. She has in fact almost lost half to possible points. Granted, everyone on the teams that lost feel like they should have won. So hopefully she will feel less bad because she didn't spend the last year dreaming of a chance at the championship.

My bracket is hanging together. Four incorrect guesses. But none of the losers were supposed to advance beyond the next round. 1880/1920 potential points left. I have no doubt that my time will come for the bracket to collapse though. See the first paragraph -- flipping a coin I should have been able to do just as well today. It wasn't like I had a genious strategy.

So here is my summary: Duke lost to VCU; I can't even say I know who VCU is. But given the way Duke played all year, they were a potentially for upset. I picked Gonzaga over Indiana incorrectly. Not an upset by seeds. BYU lost to Xavier by 2 points; I picked them because they are in the Mountain West -- like San Diego State. But BYU was an 8 seed, so losing to a #9 isn't something out of the ordinary. And I incorrectly picked Texas Tech to beat Boston College because I thought Bobby Knight would manage a victory.

    Go Oregon! Go UCLA!
